Here is some essential information for buying a classical guitar.
- Size
Most students ages 9-12 will need either a ½ or ¾ size guitar. However, this all depends on the height and proportions of the student. Our instructor is very willing to measure the student and recommend the proper size guitar before lessons begin. The correct size will allow the student to hold the guitar with correct posture. - Playability
The ease with which the guitar produces sound will be very important, especially for beginner students. The strings should be easy to press down and fit the fingers comfortably. An “easy” guitar is enjoyable and relaxing to play and usually produces a softer sound than other guitars. - Price
A high-quality instrument is vital for successful lessons. Beginners should plan to spend between $100-200 for a quality classical guitar. Advanced players may spend up to $1000 for the perfect instrument to fit their needs.
